Brief History

In 2008 a group of bowlers, with Henry Parlour as chairman, sought a replacement site for the club which had been at Vale do Lobo but the land was now required for building. Jorge & Flor Paulo, owners of the Don Camillo restaurant (now renamed Tribulum) just south of Almancil, generously offered to let the group have some land at the rear for ten years for a nominal fee, on condition that the group members found the capital needed to construct a green and equip a new club.

The Founder Member scheme was launched, giving various membership benefits, and €80,000 was contributed by a total of 25 individuals, with an additional generous loan from Henry to underwrite the construction costs. Work began on 17th December and the turf was laid at the end of March 2009.

The green was used for low-key club roll-ups from May through to August, and the club was formally opened from 1st September 2009. Membership soon topped 50, with many others participating in the club roll-up days on a casual basis.

The club competes in the Bowls Algarve leagues, and participates in other inter-club competitions and friendly matches, also hosting a number of UK touring clubs. It stages its own internal Club Championships and other special events, and holds three club roll-up days each week; it is also planned to run several social events/trips during the year. A variety of drinks can be purchased at the club-run bar, and a delicious lunch can be had at the adjoining restaurant. Casual visitors are always welcome, but please check in advance if coming as a group of 4 or more.
