MESSAGE FROM THE ORGANISER 

​The Interclub competitions for the coming winter are on the horizon and I am pleased to be able to send out information to bowlers in the Algarve so that they may register their entries which must be RECEIVED by MIDNIGHT SUNDAY 19th OCTOBER.

Change to the format 

Much depends on the number of entries! 

Each competition will be held over a set number of days at one venue. It is intended that the first round of all competitions will be played in a group for qualification to knockout stages. 

Again, depending on numbers, group matches may be played in a short format. For example in a pairs group of four, each match may be eight ends thus each team plays three matches and is guaranteed 24 ends of bowling in round 1. 

In particular, the first round singles matches will be played over a fixed number of ends. 

If a group match is tied, both teams will get 1 point. 

Various means of tie break will apply should a group league table finish with players or teams on equal points. These will sent out with the fixtures.

The aim is to generate knockout stages of quarter finals, semi finals and finals. Quarter-finals may be played in the afternoon following group matches, depending on the number of entrants. 

Semi-finals and finals would be played on a different day, after group matches.

Much depends on the number of entries. Bear with us while we wrestle with various permutations and combinations to get the most of out of the new idea.
